Where there is talk elsewhere about Riesling, it has been around for more than 1,000 years natural dry, powerful burgundy wines of world format. The Kaiserstuhl is an extinct volcano in the Upper Rhine with an extent of about 150 square kilometers. lt was created in the Tertiary more than 50 million years ago. Geologically, it is one of the oldest wine-growing terroirs in Europe. The soils consist of volcanic and volcanic weathering rode with clay and loose pad from the last ice ages. The name comes from its throne-like shape, which opens to the west to Alsace. He truly looks like an old imperial throne in bird's eye view. In the middle of this "throne" lies the winegrowing community Oberbergen.

The Mediterranean climate is ideal for viticulture. The Kaiserstuhl lies in the rain shadow of the Vosges and is the warmest and with 1720 hours of sunshine the sunniest area in Germany. The combination of volcanic rock soils and a macroclimate that is otherwise only found in the Mediterranean region is unique in both Europe and Germany.

The wine-growing region Baden with the Kaiserstuhl as the only region in Germany belongs to the wine-growing zone B in Europe and thus meets higher quality requirements. The altitude and the cooler nights ensure a longer ripening time of the grapes, which in turn leads to the storage of strongly pronounced fruit aromas. In combination of these natural factors, wines of pronounced seasoning and dominance are produced.
